Life Site | President Trump declares Day of Prayer for Hurricane Harvey victims

WASHINGTON D.C., September 1, 2017 (LifeSiteNews) — President Trump has declared Sunday, September 3, a National Day of Prayer for victims of Hurricane Harvey, whose death toll now exceeds 40.

Surrounded by Evangelical pastors and relief workers, the president praised first responders and said it is good “during times of great need to ask for God’s blessing and God’s guidance.”

Pro-life Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has proclaimed Sunday a day of prayer as well.

The president then asked “all Americans to join us as we continue to pray for those who have lost family members or friends, and for those who are suffering in this time of crisis.”

A prayer lead by Pastor Robert Jeffress followed the president’s remarks in the Oval Office.

The proclamation, which can be read in its entirety here, recalls that “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
