The Christian Post | Robert Jeffress Tells Christians to Call Mitch McConnell to Say They’re ‘Mad as H-E-Double L’

Speaking on Fox News, Robert Jeffress, senior pastor of First Baptist Dallas, urged all Christians and conservatives to call Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and tell him they are as mad as “h-e-double l” about his supposed obstruction of President Donald Trump’s nominations for judges who would protect conservative values.

“The reason evangelical Christians voted for this president by the largest margin in history was because of his commitment to appoint conservative justices and judges for the courts who would protect the values we care about, religious liberty, the sanctity of life and so on,” Jeffress told Fox News host Sean Hannity on Friday.

“And the president is doing his job,” the megachurch pastor continued. “He’s nominated dozens of judges to the federal court, but your viewers need to know those nominations are being blocked by the Republican-controlled senate, namely Mitch McConnell …”

Jeffress then said, “I’m calling tonight every Christian, every conservative to pick up the phone and call Mitch McConnell, (Sen.) Bob Corker and the rest of this do-nothing-worth-nothing Republican establishment and tell them, ‘We are as mad as h-e-double l, and we aren’t gonna put up with this. Quit obstructing this president’s agenda,’ which means they are obstructing our agenda.”

Speaking about McConnell and Sen. John McCain, Liberty University president Jerry Falwell Jr., who was also on the show, said, “I spoke to the president last week and I told him he needs to coin a new term, ‘fake Republicans.’ Because that’s what those people you just named are. They’re not really Republicans. We don’t really have a majority in the Senate, and I think that would be a good term for him to start using.”

However, Wall Street Journal columnist Kimberley Strassel says McConnell is helping Trump get his judicial nominees through the Senate.

“The president is stocking the courts with a class of brilliant young textualists bearing little relation to even their Reagan or Bush predecessors,” Strassel writes. “Mr. Trump has now nominated nearly 60 judges, filling more vacancies than Barack Obama did in his entire first year. There are another 160 court openings, allowing Mr. Trump to flip or further consolidate conservative majorities on the circuit courts that have the final say on 99% of federal legal disputes.”

The columnist adds, “This project is the work of Mr. Trump, White House Counsel Don McGahn and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.”
