The Christian Times: Donald Trump vs Hillary Clinton – Megachurch pastor David Jeremiah on how he’ll choose who to vote for

Pastor David Jeremiah rallied Christians to vote for this season’s presidential elections and shared how he himself would base his presidential pick.

While politicians and the rest of the nation continue to parley on national issues of immigration crisis, threat of the Islamic State terrorist group, support for Israel, and increasing national debt, Jeremiah believes there’s another more pressing concern that should be factored in. The lead pastor of Shadow Mountain Community Church in El Cajon, California revealed that this other factor is what he’ll base his presidential choice on.

“I believe that this election is first and foremost about the candidate who will make the best appointments to the Supreme Court,” said Jeremiah, also a New York Times bestselling author, during his Fourth of July address at Shadow Mountain.

He quickly added, “That such a statement should be made tells us that something has gone seriously wrong.”

However, the founder of the Turning Point ministry maintained that this is something crucial as the nation prepares to choose its 45th president in the coming days. This president, Jeremiah explained, would then choose two to four Supreme Court Justices who would then proceed to rule the judicial branch for life.

He added that the average term a Supreme Court Justice serves already doubled to nearly 26 years and that they could only be removed through impeachment which never happened yet in the U.S. history.

“We are a nation of laws, not dictators. But rest assured these Supreme Court Justices who sit on the bench for life, wield more power than most of the dictators and kings of this world,” he said.

Jeremiah also lamented the lack of “originalism” among the current court justices and the passing of Associate Justice of the Supreme Court Antonin Scalia, whom Christian groups and leaders honored for his conservative jurisprudence and regarded as a champion for the rule of law and liberties.
